Sperm Freezing or cryopreservation of human spermatozoa or sperms is done for success in assisted conception in case of sterile couple. This done for reasons whence the sperm has to be stored for later use. The concept is similar to embryo freezing in case of females. Also useful in case of third party reproduction using artificial insemination.
The spermatozoa is frozen in a special testified medium in the laboratory at the clinic. The sperm is frozen and stored upon permission from sperm donors. A detailed record and label is sincerely maintained in the sperm bank in the clinic. Post thaw analysis is done in case of each freeze to ascertain the sperm survival rate.
